#BBNaija: How I dealt with rape as a teen – Angel

 Big Brother Naija Shine Ya Eye housemate, Angel, has revealed how she dealt with sexual assault and rape as a teenager.

The 21-year-old writer stated this on Monday, day 37 of the show, while talking to the rest of the housemates about her experiences and future plans.

According to her, she had to go through the issues alone because she was shunned against speaking about her experiences.

“I dealt with sexual assault and rape on my own as a young teenager because it was like, ‘shut up about that. Don’t speak on it. That should be shameful.’ I dealt with the death of my boyfriend on my own,” Angel said.

She added, “And you know how life is, it doesn’t matter how bad the situation you’re facing is. Everybody else is moving and it’s like you’re the one behind.

“So on mental health, I want to sensitise more people and I know that I have a bigger platform now. So it’s going to be easier to get a large audience and hopefully, that works out well.

“I’m also starting up an organisation for young female or young women; women in general but mostly young women.”
