Nigerian singer and songwriter, Ayodeji Balogun popularly known as Wizkid has bagged two nominations, at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) for his role in ‘Brown Skin Girl’, a 2019 song by Beyonce.
The project, which is a track off ‘The Lion King: The Gift’, Beyonce’s hit album, was nominated for the ‘Best Cinematography’ and ‘Best R&B’ categories respectively.
Beyonce had last year released the visuals for the project which also featured Blue Ivy Carter, her first daughter with Jay-Z, and Saint JHN.
Wizkid has enjoyed success since recording the song with Beyonce. He has won two Soul Train Music awards, BET awards, one NAACP Image award and a Grammy award for Best Video in 2021.
The MTV VMA award will hold on September 12, 2021, at the Barclays Center in New York City, US.
