Trump Sues Ex-Attorney $500million over Contract Breach

Little over a week after being charged on 34 felony counts connected to payments Cohen made to porn star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election, President Trump is suing Michael Cohen, his former lawyer and fixer.

In the lawsuit, which was submitted on Wednesday to a federal court in Florida, Cohen is charged with spreading untrue information about Trump and breaking his agreement with the former president through his public pronouncements, books that have been published, podcasts, and other media appearances.

The complaint asserts that Cohenbroke the terms of an employment confidentiality agreement he signed with The Trump Organization when he released his two books that analyze Trump.

After an investigation into hush money payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels, Cohen, Trump’s former “fixer,” has lately returned to the national limelight. Trump pleaded not guilty last week to 34 counts of falsifying company records. Cohen organized the payments in the weeks leading up to the 2016 presidential election, and the former president is upset with Cohen because of his cooperation with authorities.

According to the complaint, during media appearances concerning the Manhattan District Attorney’s grand jury investigation that resulted in the former president’s arrest, Cohen discussed his past attorney-client relationship with Trump and divulged private information.

Although Cohen is anticipated to be a significant witness in Trump’s upcoming criminal trial in New York, the motion assaults his credibility. Even if it has in the past resulted in unfavorable outcomes, Trump and his legal team have a history of suing political or legal opponents. A federal court in Florida imposed fines against Donald Trump and his lawyer Alina Habba in January for bringing a “totally bogus” case against Hillary Clinton.
